In-house research – Bionorica research GmbH

In March 2005, Bionorica research GmbH was founded in Innsbruck (Austria) as a fully owned subsidiary of Bionorica SE. The declared advance of the Institute is to pursue the research and development of herbal medicinal products in Bionorica’s established and new indications.

The foundation of Bionorica research GmbH was co-financed by grants from the Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung and the Republic of Austria.

The R&D priorities of Bionorica research GmbH

The focus of the research work is on the isolation of herbal active ingredients using the latest analytics and process technologies.

The work aims on the development of innovative herbal remedies and/or pharmaceuticals based on natural products. To optimize the research work necessary for the further and new development of herbal medicines, the laboratory was expanded in 2008. In addition to the classical laboratory equipment, the institute now has special large-scale equipment for the preparative purification of plant constituents as well as the latest analytical instruments for the separation of complex mixtures. In 2010, the laboratories were expanded and the device inventory was enhanced with the inclusion of new generation highly sensitive mass spectrometers. The test facility of Bionorica research GmbH has been GLP-certified (Good Laboratory Practice) since 2011.

This enables Bionorica research GmbH to research the complexity of active ingredients in medicinal plants on a completely new technological level in the shortest possible time.

The fascination with the research and development of innovative and highly effective herbal medicinal products motivates Bionorica to further expand its leading position in phytotherapy. Support our company!
